My theme settings reset after an update — what happened?

Minor updates preserve settings, but major Avante updates can reset colors, fonts, and layouts due to structural changes. Products and menus are never affected.

This usually happens after a major theme update.

Minor updates usually keep your Theme Editor settings.

Major updates can reset them because the theme structure changes.

Your Shopify Admin content stays safe, including:

• Products
• Collections
• Pages, blog posts, and menus

What to do next

After a major update, reconfigure your Theme Editor settings manually to match your previous design.

Important: Before installing a major update, duplicate your current theme in Shopify Admin and keep it as a backup.
