# Overview

Theme Companion is a Shopify app by [Staylime](https://staylime.com/) that helps you maintain and extend your theme: update it to new versions without losing your customizations, add ready-made sections, and style it with your own fonts.

* [Theme updates](/docs/theme-companion/theme-updates/how-theme-updates-work.md) — update your theme to a new version and keep your customizations.
* [Sections](/docs/theme-companion/sections/adding-sections.md) — add ready-made sections and customize them in the Theme Editor.
* [Fonts](/docs/theme-companion/fonts/managing-fonts.md) — add custom fonts or Google Fonts to your theme.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Theme updates** and **Fonts** work with supported themes only; **Sections** work with any Online Store 2.0 theme. See [Supported themes](/docs/theme-companion/getting-started/supported-themes.md).
{% endhint %}

Theme Companion is growing: we're working on new modules to help you maintain and keep improving your storefront, and we're adding support for more themes over time.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://staylime.com/docs/theme-companion/getting-started/overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
