Why Magento Enterprise?

Magento Enterprise, now known as Magento Commerce, is a subscription-based service offered by Adobe Inc. that allows its users to access the enterprise-grade features in Magento and receive 24/7 support from the platform developers.

Let’s take a closer at the functionality offered with Magento Commerce.

Magento Commerce functionality

High availability infrastructure

Magento’s cloud infrastructure is powered by Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Merchants subscribed to the Pro plan of Magento Commerce can host their stores on dedicated enterprise-grade hardware managed by Adobe.

This high-availability infrastructure consisting of a three-server setup provides the reliability and scalability that large-scale enterprises need.

24/7 support

One of the biggest selling points of Magento Commerce is the access to 24/7 support provided by Adobe. While those using Magento Open Source do not receive any support, merchants using Magento Commerce receive continuous email support for the core application and cloud infrastructure.

In addition to the 24/7 support, those subscribed to the Magento Commerce Cloud Pro plan are also assigned a dedicated technical advisor for the initial launch period to provide merchants with guidance from the time their subscription begins until their website is launched.

Fastly CDN

Magento Commerce Cloud stores use Fastly to secure and optimize their website. Fastly is a multipurpose solution that uses a Varnish-based service to cache site assets and delivers them instantly when required.

It also performs as a firewall and protects websites from DDoS attacks, blocks malicious traffic, and allows merchants to enable origin cloaking to restrict direct access to their servers.

Fastly also acts as an image optimizer and takes over the task of processing and resizing images allowing store servers to focus their resources on processing orders.

Business intelligence dashboards

Magento Commerce stores connect with Magento Business Intelligence accounts to allow merchants to access all their store data from a single dashboard that is integrated with their site database, extensions, and other third-party applications.

These integrations help store owners gain valuable insights into their operations, such as cost of customer acquisition, retention rate, and the impact of order returns on customer loyalty.

B2B functionality

Magento’s B2B module is included with the subscription to the Commerce Cloud Pro plan. However, other Magento Commerce users can also gain access to the module at an extra cost. Magento’s B2B module allows store owners to create streamlined quoting workflows and even support price negotiation.

For businesses selling to large-scale organizations, it simplifies the process of creating multiple company accounts within an organization and provides a set of self-service tools to manage roles and permissions within the organization.

Page Builder

The WYSIWYG Page Builder simplifies the process of content creation and management for Magento Commerce users. It allows them to create unique shopping experiences and easily edit and modify their stores’ appearance without needing developer support.

Taking away the reliance on developers for minor tasks such as editing and updating page designs helps save time and resources for the store owner and their development team. Store owners gain better control over their stores’ design and appearance while developers can focus on creating feature-rich shopping experiences.

Visual merchandiser

The visual merchandiser in Magento Commerce allows store owners to apply conditions that determine how products are positioned and listed in categories. Setting conditions creates a dynamic listing that adjusts to live changes.

Using its visual mode, merchants can also view all the products as tiles on a grid and drag and drop products to set their position in the listing.

Customer segmentation

Using customer-specific information like cart contents, order history, and delivery address, merchants can dynamically display website content and tailor promotions to customers. Customer segmentation allows store owners to increase their sales while boosting customer satisfaction.

Defining customer segments is as easy as creating a cart or catalog price rule. With a few easy clicks, store owners can create multiple segments targeting customers in different locations and age groups and generate reports of the customers in each segment.

Product Recommendations

Taking dynamic content delivery to the next level, Magento Commerce leverages the power of AI and machine learning through Adobe Sensei to allow merchants to deliver unique and tailored experiences to their customers. It also integrates with the Page Builder to make dragging and dropping recommendations on web pages effortless.

Customers are recommended products in the form of ‘Recommended for you’ and ‘Customers also viewed’ recommendations based on Adobe Sensei’s analysis of the store’s aggregated visitor data.

Merchants can configure different types of recommendations such as customer-based, product-based, and popularity-based recommendations to be used across their storefront pages.
